China recently amended its tobacco laws to include e-cigarettes, meaning China will now be regulated like conventional tobacco products.
The regulation of e-cigarettes in China is of critical importance to the international vaping industry because over 95% of e-cigarette hardware is manufactured in China, leaving the sector keen to see whether this latest regulation change will reshape that global industry.
Recently in UK, director of the UK Electronic Cigarette Trade Association (UKVIA) John Dunne, said that 40 to 60 percent of disposable electronic cigarette currently sold in the country either do not comply with domestic laws or are counterfeit products. He think this is a serious problem and a huge concern.
John Dunne warns that retailer’s illegal operation could destroy an vape industry. This is a market with huge potential for growth if retailers are allowed to grow in a responsible way, but if you illegal operation will have detrimental effects. And could lead to bans on the industry or restrictions such as flavoring bans.”
John Dunne also suggest that retailer can import disposable vape with 600-800puffs, if one disposable vape’s puffs over 600-800puffs, then don’t import this kind of disposable electronic cigarette. And don’t sell it to minors. UKVIA recently outlined a series of measures to crack down on retailers selling e-cigarettes to children and young people, including a £10,000 fine and a national retail licensing scheme.
In the past two years, some counterfeit vape battery with poor quality and substandard quality have seriously affected the order of e-cigarette market and the life safety of consumers. The production environment of these small workshops is poor. During the production and operation, they do not wear gloves and masks, have no quality testing equipment, using poor raw materials which seriously threaten the use safety of consumers.
So “reasonable regulation” as a “good thing” in China,while regulation has the ability to raise standards, ensure vape products are safe for consumers and restrict minors access.
